Afghanistan, December 2014: Dear Supporters, Hello from Afghanistan! We are the 3rd BN, 3rd Special Forces Group (Airborne) from Ft. Bragg, operating throughout Afghanistan. We are currently the only Green Berets getting it done here. Here's the interesting part...we are not part of the "big army" conventional side, so we don't get all the cool stuff and packages that I see when I go around to the other units.
We still operate in not-so-great environments while the "fobits" are back on the big bases complaining about their wifi connection. What's wifi? I just landed on an outpost to visit my team and they have this one small MWR tent, and as I look around at this shabby get-up, there are no TVs, no AFN, no Beef jerky, no Xboxes and no heat at 6,000 ft and 40 degrees. That's just how it is. The threat is not decreasing. It just moves around like cockroaches. I'd like to support these men in the best down-time and reset possible to keep them mentally, physically, and spiritually fit for the fight. Cool stuff & good snacks for cool guys are what they like. We have the simple care packages with toothpaste, razors and hand lotion from Holiday Inn. What we don't have are the unique food items and toys that Big Army gets.....such as XBoxe360s, Underarmour clothing, Kerig Machines, and ipads. Yes, even our big, tough Green Berets like a little Candy Crush on the ipads. lol We'd love to have your support. Much appreciated! v/r, Chaplain Brian -----
